How to show an Airbnb workspace in a photo reel

Updated October 2026

Show the actual desk or table, chair, nearby power and the room around them, then explain whether the workspace is private or shared. Support any Wi-Fi claim with a recent test rather than your internet plan's advertised speed. Use those facts in a short Photo Reel, and review the finished video so it does not promise equipment, privacy or connection performance you cannot offer.

Airbnb workspace and Wi-Fi guidance checked against its official help pages on 22 October 2026; linked below. Platform guidance and Kadapt plans can change.

A laptop beside a coffee cup does not tell a guest where they will work. Your reel can show the practical setup: where the chair fits, what equipment stays and whether someone else needs the table at lunchtime. Start with the space you already offer.

Photograph the workspace as a guest will find it

Take a clear photo that includes the whole work surface and chair. Leave enough of the room in view to explain where the desk sits. A close-up of a keyboard alone cannot show whether the workspace is in a bedroom, a hallway or a shared kitchen.

Check these details before choosing the photo:

  • Surface and seating: show the chair and usable desk space, without hiding a cramped corner behind a crop.
  • Power and light: show the accessible socket and any lamp that stays for guests.
  • Equipment: include a monitor, stand or keyboard only if it is available during the stay. Remove personal equipment that will leave with you.
  • Privacy: say whether the desk is in a private room or a shared area. A bedroom desk does not become a separate office because the photo excludes the bed.

Use the host photo checklist if you need to reshoot. Check the vertical preview too: a crop can hide the chair or the doorway that makes the setup understandable.

Describe the table accurately

Airbnb’s workspace guidance describes a dedicated workspace as a desk or table reserved for work, with a power outlet and comfortable seating. It also recommends showing the workspace in listing photos and captions. Check that guidance before selecting the amenity.

If guests work at the dining table, say that. If it must be cleared for meals, say when. Describe any road noise or household use you know about without promising silence. Guests can then judge whether the arrangement suits their own working day.

For a SpareRoom ad, the same factual approach helps explain a desk in the bedroom or a shared table. State what stays with the room and when shared space is available; use SpareRoom’s own tools to manage the ad.

Treat Wi-Fi as a measured fact

Do not use the speed printed on your broadband package as a measurement of the connection at the desk. Test the guest network where guests will work, and keep a note of the date and location if you plan to quote the result.

Airbnb’s Wi-Fi help page explains that its displayed test result covers download speed, while upload speed and latency are not included. It also says the connection can vary with location and network activity. A measurement is useful evidence; it does not establish that every call will work without interruption.

Keep the script modest: “Wi-Fi available; see the listing for the tested download speed” is more precise than an unsupported promise of flawless calls. If you have not tested it, leave a speed claim out. Keep passwords and router login details out of public photos.

A worked brief for a bedroom desk

This fictional example assumes the desk, lamp and chair stay in the room, the kitchen is shared, and no monitor is included. Replace every detail with your own facts; these are writing examples, not claims about a real property.

Photo Factual brief line
Bedroom with desk visible The desk is inside the guest’s private bedroom.
Desk and chair Desk, chair and lamp are included; guests bring their own computer.
Wider room view The workspace shares the bedroom; there is no separate office.
Kitchen The kitchen is shared with the host.

A short narration could be:

A bedroom with its own desk, chair and lamp. Bring your laptop; there is no separate office. The kitchen is shared with the host. Check the listing for Wi-Fi details.

That is enough to explain the arrangement without inventing an internet speed or claiming the room suits every type of work. The free brief builder can help organise your own notes.

Make and review the Photo Reel

Follow the phone-photo video guide for the full workflow. In the new-reel form, select Photo Reel, add your photos and put the workspace facts in the brief. Review the script and shot plan, then check the credit quote before approving the render.

Watch the result with sound on and again without sound. Check that the captions and narration agree about what is private, what is shared and what equipment is included. Review the images for invented or changed features too. The AI script fact-checking guide provides another pass for unsupported claims.

A Photo Reel adds movement to still images; it is not walkthrough footage and cannot demonstrate connection quality or sound levels. Download it to share on your own social channels. Update the Airbnb or SpareRoom listing separately so that its photos, amenities and description agree with the reel.

What it costs

Kadapt Starter is $14.99/month. Check the current plan details and the app’s credit quote for your reel before rendering; this guide does not assume a fixed cost per video.

Common questions

What should my Airbnb workspace photos show?

Show the work surface, chair, power access and surrounding room. Include the equipment guests can actually use, and make clear whether the space is inside their private room or shared with others.

Can I call a dining table a dedicated workspace?

Describe it as a dining table if it also serves meals. Airbnb's linked guidance describes a dedicated workspace as a desk or table used just for working, with power access and a comfortable chair. Check the current guidance before selecting that amenity.

Does Airbnb's Wi-Fi speed result guarantee video calls?

No. Airbnb says its displayed test measures download speed, without upload speed or latency details, and that conditions can change. Report what you measured and avoid promising uninterrupted calls.

Can a SpareRoom host use the same approach?

Yes. Photograph the actual desk and chair, say what is included with the room, and explain any shared-table arrangements. Airbnb's amenity guidance applies to Airbnb; manage your SpareRoom ad separately using that platform's current guidance.
