Kadapt Creator vs Synthesia: Drawn Explainer or AI Presenter?
Updated October 2026
Synthesia and Kadapt Creator make different explainers. Synthesia builds videos around an AI presenter speaking to camera, sold as monthly plans with a free tier. Kadapt Creator turns a script you approve into scenes drawn in a hand-drawn style with a host character, with a maximum video reserve quoted by selected target and research charged separately; pick Synthesia when a face on screen is the point, and Creator when you want a faceless, illustrated explainer.
Synthesia's plans below were read from synthesia.io/pricing on 29 October 2026. Kadapt figures come from kadapt.com/creator and kadapt.com/pricing the same day. Prices and features move. If you are choosing between Synthesia and Kadapt Creator, you are really choosing between two looks: a presenter on screen, or a drawn explainer with a host character.

Where Synthesia fits
Synthesia’s public plans include a free tier of 10 minutes of video a month and paid plans that scale with minutes. If a consistent person on screen is what makes the video credible, it is built for that, and Creator does not try to match it.
Where Creator fits
Kadapt Creator plans scenes from a script you approve, voices them and draws them in a hand-drawn style with a host character.
Creator offers 3, 5, 8, 12 or 15-minute planner targets (8 minutes by default). The video quote is a maximum reserve based on the selected target, even when your script is shorter. You need the full quoted credit balance to start. Final drawing charges use finished video duration, capped at the reserve; any difference is returned.
Planning is 18 credits, narration is 0.3 × the beat count rounded up to whole credits, and drawing is 4 credits per started minute. Optional research is charged separately, before the video quote, at 6 credits per started minute of the selected target. Starter remains $14.99 a month for 200 credits. See the cost guide for the breakdown and the Creator page for pricing and three finished examples.
Creator has no realistic presenter and is not the right tool for a brand film with bespoke characters.
How to choose
If you would be comfortable with the video having no face, try Creator on one script. If the face matters, start with Synthesia’s free plan. Either way, the script and the fact-check decide whether the video earns attention. The wider field is in our roundup of AI explainer video makers.
Common questions
Is Synthesia or Kadapt Creator cheaper?
They price different things. Synthesia lists a free plan (10 minutes of video a month), Starter at $19 a month ($14 billed annually) and Pro at $89 ($59 annually). Kadapt Starter is $14.99 a month for 200 credits. Creator quotes a maximum video reserve based on your selected target, even for a shorter script; you need the full quoted balance to start. Final drawing charges use finished video duration, capped at the reserve, and the difference is returned. Optional research costs 6 credits per started minute of the selected target, charged separately before the video quote. Compare the cost of the videos you actually publish.
Does Kadapt Creator have an AI presenter?
No. Creator draws each scene in a hand-drawn style and uses a host character, not a realistic avatar. If you need a human-looking presenter, that is Synthesia's category.
Can I write my own script in both?
Yes. With Creator you can also ask it to research a topic and draft a script (6 credits per started minute of the selected target, charged separately before the video quote); read it before you approve, because any AI-written script can be wrong.
Which is better for training videos?
If the content is company onboarding where a consistent presenter builds trust, Synthesia's category fits. If it is a concept explained with drawings, such as how a process or an idea works, Creator's drawn style fits.
