How to turn a blog post or newsletter into an explainer video
Updated October 2026
Pick one idea from your post, rewrite it as a spoken script and choose a Creator target of 3, 5, 8, 12 or 15 minutes (default 8). Review the script and maximum video quote before approving generation. Optional research is charged separately before that quote; the full quoted video balance is needed even if your own script is shorter than the target.
Steps follow the flow described on kadapt.com/creator as of 20 October 2026. Creator is a new product and its flow can change. Creator pricing and target clarification: 8 November 2026.
A post you have already written is most of the way to a video. What is missing is a script made for the ear, a voice, and visuals. Kadapt Creator handles the last two and helps with the first. Here is the flow as it works today.
1. Choose one idea and a length
A post usually holds several ideas. A video holds one. Pick the question your post answers best (“why does this happen?”, “how does this work?”) and decide how long you want it. Creator offers 3, 5, 8, 12 or 15-minute targets, defaulting to 8. A target is a planner choice, not a guarantee of finished duration. Its drawing reserve uses the selected target even when your own script is shorter.
2. Start a project
Open the Creator workspace and either give it the topic or question, or paste your own script. If you paste your own, you skip the research charge. If you let Creator research the topic, it charges 6 credits per started target minute when you tap “Write my script”, separately before the video quote, and refunds that step if it fails.
For a blog post, pasting is usually better: you already did the research, and the claims are yours. Rewrite it as you would say it out loud. Short sentences, one point at a time, numbers spelled the way you would speak them.
3. Review the script
Creator researches, outlines, writes and fact-checks, and you read the result and tick the few figures that need a human eye. This is the step that matters most. Check the numbers, names and anything you would be embarrassed to see wrong in public. Nothing is built until you approve.
4. Approve the voice
Your voiceover is generated after you approve the script and video quote. Narration is rounded up from 0.3 credits per beat. Planning is 18 credits per video. The video quote is a maximum based on your selected duration and script beats; you need the full quoted balance to start.
5. Watch it come together
The visuals arrive in roughly one-minute pieces, each with a preview, so you see it take shape rather than waiting for one big file. Drawing is 4 credits per started minute. Actual frame-rounded drawing settlement is capped at the target-based reserve; any difference is returned.
6. Download
When it is done, download the finished video. The platform is yours to choose: post it with the original article, in the newsletter or on a channel.
What it costs, end to end
Use the maximum video quote for your selected target and script beats, including when you paste a shorter script. Optional research is charged separately before it. Starter is $14.99 per month for 200 credits; that is not a fixed video allowance. The full cost breakdown compares this with agency, freelancer and DIY routes, and the pricing page has the plans.
See what it looks like
Creator’s page shows three real examples: why the sky is blue, how stock prices move, and how a truss bridge carries load. They show the hand-drawn style and host character; if that is not the look you want for your post, you have learned that before spending anything.
Common questions
Can I paste a whole blog post?
Creator's page says you can start with a topic or paste your own script. A written post is not a script: it reads differently aloud, so trim it to the one idea you want to explain and write it the way you would say it. Whatever you paste, you review the script before anything is built.
How long can the video be?
Creator offers 3, 5, 8, 12 or 15-minute targets, with 8 selected by default. Finished duration can differ from the selected target. A shorter finished video can reduce actual drawing settlement, but a shorter own script still keeps the target-based reserve.
What does it cost?
The video quote is a maximum based on your selected duration and script beats. Its drawing reserve uses the selected target even with a shorter own script, and you need the full quoted balance to start. The final drawing charge is based on the finished video duration, capped at that reserve; any difference is returned. Planning is 18 credits per video, narration is rounded up from 0.3 credits per beat, and drawing is 4 credits per started minute. Optional research costs 6 credits per started target minute, charged separately before the video quote. Starter is $14.99 per month for 200 credits.
Do I have to check the facts myself?
Yes. Creator researches with sources and fact-checks the script, but some figures cannot be checked by a machine, so you confirm them before you publish.
