Turn your room photos into a short social reel.

Use five photos of a spare room and its shared spaces to make a 15-second vertical video for your own social feed. Here is a worked brief and the steps to turn your own photos into a voiced Photo Reel in Kadapt.

First, choose the video you need

If you are making a video for a SpareRoom ad, start with SpareRoom’s own video guide. It recommends a landscape introduction that includes the people who live there. Follow that guide for the ad.

Use this walkthrough for a vertical photo reel on your own social feed. The example shows the bedroom and shared spaces; use SpareRoom’s linked guide to film the housemate introduction for your ad.

If you would like to prepare your words first, use the free reel brief builder. It makes editable notes in your browser; making the video happens in the app.

1. Choose five photos with different jobs

Show the room and the spaces a new housemate would actually use. SpareRoom’s advertising tips for landlords suggest photographing the bedroom from more than one angle and including shared spaces. For this reel, that means one or two bedroom views and then the shared rooms, rather than five near-identical shots. The photo checklist helps you narrow a larger set down.

Keep the original files. A vertical frame can crop the edges of a landscape photo, so check that the bed, doors and any important details remain visible.

2. Write a short, factual brief

This is a fictional example, using an invented room called Room A. Replace every detail with what is true of your own place. If your home does not have one of these spaces, or you do not have a photo of it, swap the subject for one you do have or leave it out. The times are suggestions for the brief; the app drafts the actual plan and photo sequence separately.

  1. 0–3 seconds: wide bedroom.
  2. 3–6 seconds: desk corner.
  3. 6–9 seconds: shared kitchen.
  4. 9–12 seconds: shared bathroom.
  5. 12–15 seconds: shared sitting area.
Room A. A wide bedroom with a desk corner. A shared kitchen, a shared bathroom and a shared sitting area.

The narration uses only what the photos show. Add rent, location or availability only when they are accurate and you can keep them up to date.

3. Set up the reel in Kadapt

  1. Open the new-reel form. Sign in with your emailed code. First-time users add their name; “Business or agency (optional)” can be left blank.
  2. Enter a “Listing name or address” and choose “Start with photos”. Keep Photo Reel selected for pans, zooms and transitions over your still photos.
  3. Choose 15s for this example and add your photos. A length written in your brief does not select the app’s length control, and the brief does not set photo order, so check both in the app.
  4. Paste your edited brief into “Anything else for the plan? (optional)”. Choose your style, voice and music, then review the generated script and shot plan.
  5. Read the credit quote before choosing “Approve & render”. New accounts start with 25 free credits without a card; the work you choose determines how many credits it uses. See plans and credit examples.

4. Check the finished reel before sharing

Watch it with sound on. Check pronunciation, every caption, the photo crops and which spaces appear. Confirm you have reviewed the finished video, then save the MP4. If your browser opens the video instead of saving it, use its “Save video” control and return to your reel.
