Review request templates

Fill-in-the-blank emails and texts asking past clients for a review or testimonial: at closing, about 30 days later and about a year later. Honest wording, no incentives and no pressure. Edit, then copy. Everything stays in your browser; nothing is sent or stored.

Anything left blank appears as a [bracketed] blank for you to fill in. Check your brokerage and review platform rules, and your local anti-spam and consent rules, before you ask.

How to use these templates

Pick when the message goes out, whether you are asking for a public review or a testimonial, and whether it is an email or a text. The wording fills in from your details and appears in the box, where you can change anything. If you change the fields after editing the message, the edits are replaced with a fresh template, so finish the fields first and edit last. Keep any [bracketed] blanks you do not have an answer for out of the final message.

Three moments to ask

  • At closing: the experience is fresh. Thank them first, then ask once, simply.
  • About 30 days later: they have settled in and can say how the home and the process turned out.
  • About a year later: a check-in on the anniversary. Ask how they are and, only if you have not asked before, whether they would share their experience.

Do not send the next message to anyone who has already replied, or who has said no or asked you not to contact them.

Ask honestly, with no incentives

The templates ask for honest feedback and say that any answer is welcome. They offer no gifts, discounts or other rewards, and do not suggest the client owes you a good review. Many platforms prohibit rewarding or selectively asking for reviews, and rules on testimonials differ by place. If you add anything of that kind, check the rules first.

Check brokerage, platform and consent rules

Your brokerage, your local board and the review platform may each have rules about how you ask, what you may quote and how you must display it. Whether you may email or text a past client also depends on what they agreed to. This tool makes drafts only and cannot tell you what is allowed in your situation, so check the rules that apply to you.

Common questions

Are these review request templates really free?

Yes. There is no signup. The templates are filled in your browser, you edit them there, and you copy the result into your own email or messaging app.

Does Kadapt see the names or messages I type?

No. Names, addresses, links and message text stay in your browser. Nothing is sent to Kadapt, stored, or used in analytics. The only thing counted is that someone pressed a copy button, never what the message said.

When is a good time to ask for a review?

Three common moments are at closing, when the experience is fresh, about 30 days later once the client has settled in, and about a year later as a check-in on the anniversary. Ask once at each moment at most, and stop if the client does not reply or says no.

Can I offer a gift or discount for a review?

These templates do not, and you should think hard before you do. Many review platforms ban paying for or rewarding reviews, or require that reviews be disclosed as incentivised, and some consumer protection rules treat it as misleading. The wording here asks plainly, makes clear that honest feedback of any kind is welcome and never pressures anyone.

What is the difference between a review and a testimonial?

A review is posted by the client on a third-party platform such as Google, Zillow or a similar site. A testimonial is a quote you ask permission to use, for example on your own website. The templates cover both: pick one in the form. For a testimonial, always get the client’s clear permission before you publish their words or name.

Do my brokerage or the review platform have rules?

Quite possibly. Brokerages, local real estate boards and platforms such as Google or Zillow have their own rules about asking for, collecting, using and displaying reviews and testimonials, and some regulators have advertising rules about testimonials. Check yours before you send anything. This tool does not know your rules and is not legal advice.

Can I send these as texts?

Not necessarily. Rules on texting and emailing clients vary by country and state and often turn on whether the person agreed to be contacted that way. Check your local anti-spam and consent rules and your brokerage policy first.

Do I have to fill in every field?

No. Empty fields are left as a short [bracketed] blank so you can see what to add before you send. Anything in square brackets is a placeholder for you to complete.
