Why give clients a moving checklist
A move is one of the busiest stretches in your client’s year, and the jobs that go wrong are usually the small ones nobody wrote down: a forgotten address change, a missed booking, no kettle or keys on the first night. A one-page handout with your name on it is useful the day they get it, and it is the page that stays on the fridge until the move is done.
What the list covers
- 8 weeks out: planning, a rough budget, movers or a van, and starting to sort what is coming.
- 2 weeks out: packing, confirming bookings, telling the people who need the new address and clearing the old home.
- Moving day: the essentials box, walk-through, keys and meter readings.
- The first week: unpacking priorities, safety checks, settling in and finishing the paperwork reminders.
It is a logistics reminder, not advice. It does not cover contracts, tax, insurance terms or the rules for changing addresses and setting up utilities, which differ by place. Where the list mentions them it asks the client to check locally.
Using it with a client
- Fill in the client’s name, the move date if you know it, and your contact details.
- Untick items that do not apply (no pets, no garden) and add local tips as extra lines.
- Print it or save a PDF and give it to the client at closing or the listing appointment.
- Follow up a week or two after the move: a short check-in is a good moment to ask for a review or an introduction.

Common questions
Is the moving checklist really free?
Yes. There is no signup and no watermark. The checklist is built in your browser and you can print it, save it as a PDF through the print dialog, or download it as a PNG image.
Does Kadapt see what I type?
No. The client name, move date, your contact details and any items you add are used only to draw the checklist on your own screen. Nothing is sent to Kadapt, stored, or used in analytics. The only thing counted is that someone pressed print or download, never what was on the list.
Who is this checklist for?
It is a handout for your clients, buyers or sellers, who are about to move. You put your name and contact details at the top, add the client name and move date, and give it to them at closing, at the listing appointment or whenever the move gets close. They tick the boxes on the printed copy.
What does the move date do?
If you enter a move date, each stage heading shows a rough start date worked out from it: eight weeks before, two weeks before, the day itself and the following week. It is only a guide for planning. If you leave the date blank the headings show the stages only.
Does it tell my client how to change their address or set up utilities?
No. It reminds them to do those jobs, but the rules, providers and lead times for address changes, utilities and services differ by place, so the list says to check locally rather than giving instructions. Add your local details as extra items if you want to.
Can I add my own items?
Yes. Untick any item you do not need, and add your own lines in the box under each stage. Each stage keeps its own extra items.
Is this legal, tax or compliance advice?
No. It is a practical memory aid for the logistics of a move. It does not cover contracts, taxes, insurance terms or anything a lawyer or adviser should handle, and it makes no claims about what your client must do or by when. Check your own local rules and add anything your brokerage requires.
